International Release: Book Trailer for The Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse!

So, I did a thing. A few months back I had a random thought and I ran with it. And the random thought was, why don’t you make a live-action book trailer for Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse and play Death riding her pale horse? I mean, it seemed natural. Max is the perfect pale horse. Why not dress up as one of my characters and create a short film? Not wild/crazy/daunting/audacious at all.

It's been an interesting journey creating this thing. Writing a book is one thing, but starring in a short film? Completely different. I don't really think I thought it through when I first had the idea early this year, and I'm glad I didn't, because I totally would have chickened out. It's really putting myself out there, you know? Like ME, on a screen. It's a very different sort of creative expression than writing. But it was a total blast, and I loved it, and Max actually loved it, and I think we have many more costumed performances in our future. I really LOVE LOVE LOVE how it came out. Hopefully you enjoy it just a fraction as much as I do.

A HUGE shout out to: my friend and amazing filmmaker Ash Mancuso who directed the film, saw my vision, added so much depth and awesomeness to it, made me feel like a rock star while putting up with my camera shyness, and was just an awesome co-creator of this project. My trainer Marsha Hartford Sapp, without whom I would not have a horse who I can throw in western tack (usually we use a dressage saddle), ride with a big, billowy cloak, and shoot clouds of fog at from a machine (oh, and letting me use said western tack and fog machine!). Photographer Kim Chason for capturing our second video shoot with pics I will cherish forever. Sandy Beaulieu for lending me several gorgeous key pieces to my outfit as Death and offering great advice. And so many horse friends who lent me things and cheered me on through this process. It's been a group effort of powerful women coming together, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I would love it if you share this film far and wide! As much as I adore the book trailer, I also adore this series of books and want my characters and my story to find readers who also love it. Dynah/Death is the star of this film, but you’ll also meet Willow, Felicity, and Penelope. They kick ass.

But above all, enjoy the trailer - whether or not you’re into fantasy books about cowgirls and angels and demons!
