My Preccciousssss....

So it happened last weekend. I sat on my bed. It was mid morning. I was clutching it in my hands. Checking my email, or tweeting, I can't remember. But that's when I realized I was hopelessly addicted to my Droid smart phone.

How did this happen? When did this small electronic device become like crack to me? I have to say, it makes checking my email for agent responses much more efficient. And checking Twitter while I'm sitting in the car pickup line at the kids' school. Sometimes I feel like it's an extension of my body. Maybe I'll turn into a robot. That could be a cool story.

Soooo... don't leave me in an awkward silence. Are you obsessed with your phone, or other electronic toys? How do you use such things as a writer?

  1. Oh, I hear you. I heart my Droid phone, a little too much. Even more than crack, ha!

  2. if I had an android or iphone, I would be, but for now I'm one of the few that never has to check his phone. I feel like I am more aware of things because I'm not thinking about the internet or mails all the time..
But in the future, I'm sure I will be one of you.

  3. I have a tiny little 'pay as you go' phone. I'm sure it does stuff, but since it's only for emergencies, I never use it. Those Droids do sound addictive, though.

  4. Haha, funny. No, I don't have that prob. I'm a reluctant tech person and leave that Droid stuff to my hubby (he loves it). It even took me years after everyone to get a cell phone, period. :)

    Happy Sunday!

  5. I don't own a cell phone, but I'll admit to an iPad addiction. It's handy! I need to look something up, I don't even need to get off the couch.

  6. No, I don have that addiction. Fortunately. I would rather write, read, observe people on their droids, or just about anything else. No offense intended to the electronic addicts out there.

  7. I'm trying to resist the lure of an iPhone for as long as I can. Right now, my phone is just a flip phone, only good for making calls. And I'm happy with that.

  8. I didn't want an iPhone when I got one for my birthday a few years ago...I went through an obsessive period where I couldn't stop looking at Facebook and checking my mail, but now things have dialed back down again. I still do leave my volume up so I can hear when new mail arrives, which my husband says is annoying :)

  9. bahaha! I love the visuals and comparisons you made ;p I'm like that with checking facebook. I get all shaky and sweaty if I haven't checked it in a couple hours. A day without it? I'm pretty much comatose. Oh, and I'm addicted to texting on my phone. what did I ever do without it?? An introvert like me, texting is heaven. I don't actually have to talk to anyone and be put on the spot to carry on a conversation ;p

  10. Yes. Yes. Yes. I have to mentally force myself to put it down and not touch it. I have no idea how I survived pre-iPhone. It's pathetic.

  13. I am not addicted to my phone...but my laptop? Major addiction. Can't go anywhere without it and I spend pretty much every waking moment on it (that I'm not teaching, cooking or eating). When it died a few months ago, I thought I had died. It was torture not having it for four whole days!!!

  14. This was a funny post! I only have a cell phone, and it doesn't do anything but ring or text. Thank goodness! I'm addicted enough to my laptop. I'd never get anything done if I had a Droid.

  15. I do not have a cool phone. It has nothing but a keyboard. zzzzzzzzzzzzz
But I have a feeling I would be hooked if I had a Droid. I have one of those gadget addicting personalities. LOL
