What's Your Number?

My Saturday started off real swell, with my email getting hacked and spam emails with links to undoubtedly shady websites getting sent to all of my contacts and just about everyone I've ever sent an email to. Meaning all of you guys, other friends and family, and every agent I've ever queried included the ones that are currently reviewing my manuscript. SOOO fun, let me tell you. So, you probably got a real email from me saying to disregard the first email that wasn't really from me. Alas, I cannot assist you with fashion deals, the secrets to supreme health, finding your perfect love match, or otherwise discovering the universal key to eternal happiness.

On to better news, I've gotten the first chapter done of my new MG novel, and Little Dude has approved of it. I read it to him the other night and he laughed at some of the lines (that were supposed to be humorous) and asked lots of questions and wanted to know when the next chapter would be ready. Yay! I'll make sure I mention this in the query letter. Um, yes, I'm totally joking.

So, what's any of this have to do with my blog title? Nothing. I just got to wondering the other day how many blogs you guys are following, because I feel like I'm following a ton! But maybe in relation to other people's blogging habits, it's not that many. What's my number? 183. That means I'd have to visit about 26 blogs a day to get through everyone in a week. Which is a lot when you work full time and have kids and a hubby to attend to. Oh, and a book to write. So, what's your number? Spill!! And have an awesome Monday.

  1. Soooo...you can't improve my bust size? WTH Alexia!? Glad you got your email sorted out! Sorry that happened. People that do that crap just irritate the beegeezus out of me!!

Hurray for a successful 1st chapter!!

  2. I'm not even sure how to check and see how many I'm following? I'm sure it's a lot. I do try and visit as much as I can but there are times I just don't get to everyone.

Yikes for your email getting hacked! I got your other (real) email and am happy to report that I didn't see any spam from you earlier.

Yay for a good first chapter!

  3. How totally awesome that Little Dude likes your WIP. Yay!

After counting up my blogger dashboard, I'm following 148 blogs. Good thing for me, not all of them post every day. Still, it takes me about 1-2 hrs to read my blogroll every morning.

  4. Glad your first chapter is finished. I think I am following around 130 blogs. Thats quite a lot. Thank God your email problem was sorted out.

  5. I was really kinda hoping you could help me with that universal key to eternal happiness. But, oh well.

I follow about 400 blogs. But most of those don't post daily--some of them don't even post weekly. And I skim over posts if the day's topic isn't in my ballpark, stopping to read what really interests me. Within that group of 400, there are about a dozen that I will always read and catch up on even if I've been away.

  7. I think I'm following about 200 blogs. If I miss more than one day of blog reading, I get way behind. Today is one of my catching up on reading the blogs days.

  8. So sorry about the hacking. Why do some people have to ruin everyone's fun?

I loved the title of this post. It reminded me of that Beatles song, "you know my naaame, look up the number!"

  9. I follow a TON of posts. Probably around 300+. I try to organize them in Google Reader; that helps. Yay for you finishing your MG chapter! (and with good results!)

  10. Oh no, that's brutal!

Hm, I'm not sure. I think it's somewhere in the 1000 area!

  11. I am not sure where I am in followers. It seems that I spend a lot of time on the dashboard checking in on the ones I follow, and then trying to get further on the rewrite of the rewrite of my WIP. At least, I don't have little ones to care for, as you do. Enjoy them, for too soon you'll see their backs heading off to college, and worlds beyond.

  12. I'm like Talli, somewhere in the 1000 range. It's not humanly possible to check them every week. At minimum I always check those that stop by my blog; and a few bloggie sisters I have.

  13. Just counted- 238. I definitely don't get to them every day. I only read blogs on the days I post which is Monday and Thursdays. I have them all divided up in to folders in google reader. So I have my crit partners, bloggers I consider my friends, agents, authors, and then other bloggers I don't know as well. This is the only way I can manage them all! Most of the time I don't get to them all...but that's just is what's going to happen.
