Monday Meme: When I'm a Famous Author

Hi, writer friends! I'm going to keep today's meme short and sweet, because it's late Sunday night and I've been trying to hit the halfway point on my WIP this weekend. I'm about 750 words short, and I think sleepiness is going to conquer me... but I got a lot of pages cranked out, so I'm happy.

So.... my fantasies of fame and fortune can't be complete without a fantastic beach house. I am lucky enough to live within an hour of the beach here in Florida, and I think a part of my soul is always down there, rocking on the waves and drinking in the salty air. And while I'd be thrilled to have any beach house, I think I want a really unique one, unlike a lot of the ones around here, that all look pretty similiar. Mine would have more of a Mediterranean flare. Like this...

So, what about you? What kind of vacation home would you like to have?

Have a great start to your week, blog buddies!

  1. Ooo, pretty. The Husband and I look for our retirement home on the weekends - even though we aren't ready to retire and couldn't afford half the homes we see. So, when I'm a rich, bestselling author, I want a home that has the same feel as Falling Water (http://www.fallingwater.org/) set right in the middle of about 100 acres of forest-covered land with a 3-5 acre stocked lake just for us to swim and fish in. Oh, and it's got to be somewhere warm - but not too warm.

    Heh, I don't want much, do I? ;o)

  2. Glad you made great progress on your work! As slow as I type, I'd be happy with 750 words.
I want a luxury cabin in the mountains with giant windows that provide a great view of the snow - and I have no place to go!

  3. Congratulations on reaching the halfway point of your book, Alexia! Do you find that the second half goes more quickly than the first?

Marcelo and I would completely resonate with a small, authentic Mediterranean home complete with creamy stucco walls and an earth-colored tile roof. That's because we're so drawn to vineyards, olive orchards and overall look of this type of countryside; it must be why we're so crazy about the part of California in which we live--it reminds Marcelo of where his grandparents are from. :)

  4. I have two very different ideas of a vacation home. One would be a lighthouse. I just think it would be fun to say I owned a lighthouse. Another would be a wooden cabin, with picture windows that overlooked a beautiful flower garden. There would also be a well marked path that went through the trees, down to the lake where you would find a large gazebo.

  5. I would love to live in wine country somewhere because the land gets just enough rain to make it beautiful (and the wine is awesome). :P

  6. Oh part of my soul is on the east coast at the beach. Sigh...I would LOVE to own a beach house in Sunset Beach NC. I miss it so much! I live 2,000 miles away right in the middle of the country and we get out every other year. This summer was our off year, sniff sniff.

  7. Oh that is pretty!
When I was a teenager I went to Jamaica and we stayed at a friends uncles house there. It was the most romantic, beautiful house I have ever stayed in with a living room taht opened up to make an outdoor living room or an indoor one. It also had a pool that had a waterfall that dropped over the cliff. That is so what I want!

  8. Oooh, that is gorgeous! I think my dream vacation house would be an old castle in the Scottish Highlands. Too beautiful up there.

  9. Mine would be a converted castle somewhere in the mountains. Somewhere where you've got a proper log fire and a room big enough for banqueting. And you wake up in the morning, look through your window and you see the land sprawling out ahead of you ... actually, never mind that as a holiday home, I want to live there!

  10. Alexia, can I stay in your beach house for a few days. I make a good guest (I don't leave wet towels everywhere, neither am I very demanding). My dream is to buy or build a farmhouse.

  11. Oh, that beach house looks lovely! But any beach house is great as long as it's...by the beach! ;o) That's the important part. Best of luck with your writer goals!
