Death and Dating Releases Today!

Death and Dating, The Quinn Chronicles Book 1, releases today! It's a Zyan Star spin-off series for all you Zyan fans out there. Snag a copy for FREE on Amazon through the 30th!

Life has been a little…interesting…since Quinn Devereux came back from the dead. Well, life being a relative term when you’re not sure if you’re exactly alive. Dating is hard enough without being non-corporeal. And there’s the small matter of her eternal servitude to Death.

But when someone casts a deadly spell on the high priestess of her former coven, Quinn is called in to find the killer. It’s been decades since she left the coven, and the terms of her departure aren’t exactly fond memories. She’s got to come to terms with her past while also learning to handle her new powers, and unfortunately there’s not a charm in her grimoire for that kind of thing.

As if that weren’t enough to cramp a witch’s style, her training to escort souls and become one of Death’s servants begins at precisely the same time Quinn is trying to catch the murderer. Add in a government group that hunts supernaturals and a reunion with the warlock who broke her heart, and you’ve got a whole cauldron of chaos on your hands.

Some witches have all the fun.

Enjoy!

Of Blood, Earth, and Magic Release!!

Hi, friends!

It's finally here! My YA fantasy Of Blood, Earth, and Magic. A book about a girl, a horse, a boy, a land ravaged by magic and monsters, and a circus of rebels. A book from my soul. It's mage punk/tribal fantasy. It's dark and beautiful and whimsical.

Read on for some fun quotes and pics. Or go ahead and snag it now for FREE if you have Kindle Unlimited, and only 99 cents for everyone else through the end of the week!!

There was a time when the Tribes lived in harmony. Sun, Moon, even the fabled Shadow Tribe. That time is no longer. Now the land has become a wicked wasteland, plagued by strange creatures, enchanted storms, and bubbles of trapped time, remnants of the Shaman Wars. Magic has been outlawed by the Sun, the Moon have gone into seclusion, and the Shadow are all but annihilated, with threat of death hanging over any who step foot within the realm.

This is Iamar.

For Elea, the idea of peace between the tribes is a nothing more than a legend from the history books. She works for a circus of outcasts who travel between the Sun cities. All she wants is freedom: from the circus, to perform her magic, to be herself. But she possesses a deadly secret that makes any chance of liberty impossible. Ashe is a spoiled Sun boy, heir to one of the seven Sun cities. He rebels against his overprotective father by competing in illegal fight dens. Like most Sun, he believes that science is the future, and he’s never traveled outside the walls of his city due to the dangers that lie beyond.

When a new kind of evil begins to terrorize the land, Elea and Ashe find themselves thrown into the center of a coup that could destroy Iamar. To fight the enemy, the Sun and Moon must unite, something that hasn’t been done in three hundred years. But first they must find the Moon Tribe, and that means crossing Iamar, which grows more and more unstable as the dark magic spreads. Dark magic which has everything to do with Elea and her terrible secret.

Book Reviews

"This is definitely a wonderful fantasy story that had me lost in the pages. I was totally intrigued. Don’t miss out once it’s released." Goodreads Reviewer

"Another thing that I really loved about this novel is the way it made every action scene move: with urgency for the life-and-death battles, and a tenderness that just makes you sigh for the quieter interactions between its characters, humans and horses alike. I also really loved how magic is described as part of the earth, having scent like the earth, moving and springing from the earth. It is as much a part of the story as its characters, playing both a destructive and a healing role." Reedsy Discovery

Welcome to the world, book baby! I hope you enjoy Of Blood, Earth, and Magic as much as I do.

Unless she proves herself and wins that promotion, she’ll lose so much more than a pay rise. Yet everything goes wrong the moment she lands in the outback. With no research equipment, only skimpy clothes packed by her best friend to help her score a date, and a tight deadline to submit her report, she’s screwed. So when a sexy cowboy offers to play chauffeur, she’s all over it. But she’s there to shut down the mining activities, not fawn over the guy who’s supporting them, no matter how sizzling the attraction between them.

Billionaire jackaroo, Sam Preston tempts fate as an adrenaline junkie, living each day as if it were his last. Angry and wounded, he’s in town to sell his cattle ranch to the local mining company and be done with his past—until he meets hapless city-chick Affrica, who has no clue about surviving in the desert. Sam doesn’t know how to stop being a daredevil even though Affrica reminds him of the happiness he once had.

Can Sam let go of the past before he loses the one person who's finally breathed new life into him, or is it not possible to truly tame a jackaroo?

When Ash Rains Down Release Day!

Hi guys! I'm so happy to help my friend and CP Cecelia Earl celebrate the release of her debut novel! It's a super fun YA about angels and you should check it out!

Being crowned homecoming queen and enduring a week at the center of her classmates' attention is eighteen-year-old Julia White’s worst nightmare—even with Cole, her long-time crush, as her date. But when Julia is attacked by a green-blooded demon that vanishes in a plume of smoke, she comes face to face with what real nightmares look like—in the flesh, and all of the homecoming stuff hardly matters anymore.

As a frightening wave of crime infiltrates her small Wisconsin town, Julia tries to avoid Nicholas, a brooding, infuriating relative of Cole’s, who insists she’s the reason behind the corruption. He claims the culprits are demons who are after powers that only she—a human-angel hybrid—possesses. It’s unbelievable, of course, until he takes her to a hidden battlefield where warrior angels train to fight soul-siphoning demons—and her own angelic wings unfold.

When angels and demons draw battle lines, endangering everyone in their way, Julia has to find a way to protect them all, including herself. Because as it turns out, she’s the devil's most powerful weapon against the angels, and he’ll stop at nothing to claim her.

The final battle between Heaven and Hell has begun.

Huntress Found Release Party and $50 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway!!!

The hunt is on!!

I am wildly excited to release my book baby to the world... Huntress Found, book one of The Timekeeper's War Trilogy. And to celebrate, I'm giving away a $50 Amazon gift card! Please help me spread the news about both Huntress and the giveaway so we can give this series a proper kickoff.

Also, it's 99 cents, guys!! And will be for at least the rest of the year.

Huntress is contemporary fantasy, a mashup of Artemis mythology and Dr. Who with a sprinkle of steampunk. It's really unique and fun (can you tell I LOVE it?):

Evryn’s got mad skills at playing hide and seek. She can find lost children, hack the most secure databases, pretty much anything. Except for the one thing she desires most: the knowledge of who her parents are, why they abandoned her, and what her special talent means about who and what she really is.

So, when a guy named Seeker appears quite literally out of nowhere, claiming to know about her past and offering her a job, Evryn can’t say yes fast enough. Even if it does mean following him to another realm. As in, mind-blowingly, not Earth. Apparently she’s part of an elite clan of Hunters descending from Artemis who can find just about anything in all of time and space. As the last of Artemis’ direct lineage, Evryn is her clan’s best shot at finding a lost city before rival clans do.

Not just any city, but the flying, realm-hopping city of Skye. Aboard Skye is the Artifex, a magical device with the power to create or destroy worlds. Everyone wants the device, and with Evryn’s super-powered lineage, it means everyone wants her, too. It’s hard to decide who she can trust, even within her own clan. After she discovers a strange, alluring connection to the Artifex, she’s not even sure she can trust herself. Worse yet, the only person who may be able to help her is the Timekeeper, the sadistic ancient being who created the Artifex. An interdimensional war is brewing, and Evryn is right at the epicenter of it all.

Let the hunt begin.

Two Awesome Book Birthdays!!

Hi, friends! I am very excited to share TWO awesome new books that released today, both from very talented and experienced writers. Let's jump right in!

The first is Cloaked in Blood by T.F. Walsh. I love her steamy paranormal romances! They'll get your heart pumping for sure :) This one is #3 in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone.

The daughter of a sultan alpha, Selena Kurt agrees to an arranged wulfkin mating to protect her sister from a dangerous alpha from the enemy clan. To her surprise, her match is Marcin Ulf, the next in line for the Hungarian throne . . . and the wulfkin who broke her heart years ago.

Marcin is just as shocked to learn he'll be matched to the enemy's daughter and the woman he's never forgotten. Before they can be paired, however, they're drawn into a tournament where Marcin will compete to free his estranged imprisoned brother, while Selena battles for the life of another wulfkin alpha. Both intend to seize this chance to save those they're fighting for - even if it means facing off with one another just as their romance rekindles.

Will tribe loyalty triumph, or will they realize they're better off as a team before it's too late?

Next up is The Haunted Stepsister by Medeia Sharif. It's a super fun middle grade horror for the younger crowd! Very creepy and with a nice twist at the end :)

Sixth grade isn’t easy for Jesenya Moradi, especially since her father’s recent remarriage and tension with her new stepsister, Kammy. After an incident at school that nearly destroyed Kammy's life, Jess has been desperate to get on Kammy’s good side. But a fateful trip to an allegedly haunted bathroom changes both girls’ lives forever.

The rumors about the bathroom are true, and now Jess is convinced a demon's possessing Kammy. Eerie things happen whenever she's around – flying objects, flickering lights, not to mention the fact that something, or someone, is making people into its puppets.

Worse, the demon seems fixated on making Jess confess her part in ruining Kammy's reputation. Sticking to her Muslim faith, Jess enlists the help of an imam to exorcise the demon from Kammy. But can they get rid of the demon before it destroys her new family?

Werewolves and Genies, Oh My!!

Hi friends, today I get to announce book birthdays for TWO good writer friends! That's always such fun :) I have read the first books in both of these series, and loved them! Wulfkin Legacy is super steamy paranormal romance and Once Upon a Djinn is sassy urban fantasy. Check them out!

First up:

Cloaked in Secrecy by T.F. Walsh
(The Wulfkin Legacy #2)

What better way for a pack of wulfkin shifters to remain in seclusion than to hide in plain sight?

Death has followed Alena Novac’s circus family for years, but when the police arrest her brother for murder, she must rescue him before he transforms behind prison walls. With less than a week to execute her plan, a member from the Varlac family who murdered her mother reappears. Now, Alena has to decide whether to make good on her promise to avenge her mother’s death or risk rescuing her brother.

Enre Ulf has one mission – prevent Alena’s father from claiming his territory and slaughtering his wulfkin pack in Transylvania. Enre may have turned his back on his Varlac heritage, but that doesn’t mean he won’t impersonate one to infiltrate the circus clan and take out their alpha. Knowing that his secrets will lead to his demise, Enre takes the risk in order to save his home. What he never planned on was his wolf claiming Alena as his mate.

Now with the police closing in, and the real Varlac threatening them, Alena and Enre must overcome their pasts to save their packs’ futures.

Zyan Star Book News!

At long last, Martinis with the Devil, the first book in my Zyan Star urban fantasy series, is coming out on April 11th!

As some of you may know, I was all ready to release it last fall. Then, I signed with my agent, and we decided to wait to release it while shopping for publishers for my other fantasy series. Well, we're still on sub, and have a third of the publishers yet to respond, but Sandy gave me the go ahead to move ahead with the Zyan series! What I'm going to do is release each book in halves, part one and two, so that they're published as novellas and my debut novel status is preserved for my other series. I'm so excited!

What's exciting for my readers is that Martinis with the Devil part one and two will be FREE for at least the first two weeks. I want to really come out of the gates strong, and that's where I need your help! I am using Thunderclap for spreading the word via Twitter, FB and Tumblr. It's a crowdspeaking platform that has supporters sign up ahead of time, and then it blasts out all the messages at once on my launch day. It's really cool, but I have to get 100 supporters or it won't blast out, kind of like crowdfundraising (Kickstarter and whatnot). So, most of my focus is going there, please sign up for a tweet, FB or Tumblr post!! I will love you forever :) Here's the link.

If you'd also like a free ARC, and/or want to help me spread the word via a blog tour, etc., please click here and fill out a super quick Google form so I can keep track. You can also fill this out if you are doing the Thunderclap I mentioned above, just so I know who's signed up.

If you want to read more about Martinis, click the My Books link on my blog menu. I'm so stoked to finally be sharing it with the world! The fun will keep coming too, because I also plan to release book two, Whiskey and Angelfire, and book three, Vengeance and Vermouth, over the next few months.

You guys rock, and as always, thanks for sharing this journey with me!

Cloaked Release + IWSG

Hello, writing friends! Happy New Year, if I haven't crossed paths with you yet this year! My official New Year's post is here if you're so inclined.

Today I'm celebrating with a friend on the release of her novella on January 4th - Cloaked by T.F. Walsh. I had the pleasure of reading an ARC and it's such a fun book, guys! Werewolves and romance in Romania. Good stuff, super steamy and saucy :) You can read my lengthier review on Goodreads here.

Check it out, only 99 cents!! Amazon B&N | Kobo | Google Play | iTunes

Publisher: Crimson Romance

Blurb: Raised by an overly protective wulfkin pack, Daciana leaps at the chance to venture into the human world for her one-year independence ritual. But after someone steals the endangered bear cubs she’s been assigned to protect, she must locate them or lose her job and return home in disgrace. The sexy inspector on the case isn’t making this any easier. He knows nothing of her kind, and wulfkin rules forbid relationships with humans.

Newly divorced Inspector Connell Lonescu trusts no one but himself. He’s convinced relationships are a waste of time and thinks burying himself in work will ease the pain. Yet he’s attracted to the gorgeous and mysterious Daciana, even if there’s something slightly odd about her. Can Connell learn to trust the sexy but secretive woman?

Now, on to IWSG! I suppose what's been on my mind most the last month is book marketing. I released my first novelette in August, and I've learned a TON about marketing since then. What to do, and a lot more of what NOT to do (stuff that's a waste of money and time). I'm a bit bummed because things were plugging along pretty well until December, and then my sales dropped off to practically nothing. It was especially disappointing because I had just announced that ALL of my book proceeds from Thanksgiving to Christmas would be donated to Heifer International to fight world hunger. I was looking forward to raising some money for them, and that totally didn't happen. Luckily for them I'll give my usual annual gift anyways, but still, kind of a bummer.

Early in December I emailed the lovely self-pub rockstar RaShelle Workman, who has sold over a million of her e-books, and asked her for advice. She said that her biggest piece of advice, and probably what my problem is, is that I only have the one novelette out. She said she suggests people have 5-7 books in a series, have at least half of them totally ready to go (edited, covers, etc.) and then release them two weeks apart to keep momentum going and build up a devoted readership. I had already guessed that having just the one was hurting me, though at the moment I can't do anything about that since my agent wants me to wait to release the subsequent novels in that series until we land a deal on my other series. So, I'll need to wait, but in the meantime I'm furiously working on finishing the second novel in the series, which should be done by mid month, and then I'll be on to the third. I'd also like to write another novella for the series, and release the first three novels and the novella later this year.

So, that's the plan, and that's my writing life at the moment! How about you? Oh, and click here to read other IWSG posts for the month.

The Body Institute Release Day!

Today I am helping long-time writer friend Carol Riggs with her debut novel birthday bash!! Check it out.

Meet Morgan Dey, one of the top teen Reducers at The Body Institute. Thanks to cutting-edge technology, Morgan can temporarily take over another girl’s body, get her in shape, and then return to her own body—leaving her client slimmer, more toned, and feeling great. Only there are a few catches… For one, Morgan won’t remember what happens in her “Loaner” body. Once she’s done, she won’t recall walks with her new friend Matt, conversations with the super-cute Reducer she’s been text-flirting with, or the uneasy feeling she has that the director of The Body Institute is hiding something. Still, it’s all worth it in the name of science. Until the glitches start… Suddenly, residual memories from her Loaner are cropping up in Morgan’s mind. She’s feeling less like herself and more like someone else. And when protests from an anti–Body Institute organization threaten her safety, she’ll have to decide if being a Reducer is worth the cost of her body and soul…

Sounds fun, yes?

Down the Self-Pubbing Rabbit Hole, Plus a Sneak Peek!

A LOT has happened in my world over the last month, and things are just heating up! I plunged into the sticky webs of Amazon self-publishing and learned the ins and outs. I've also been brushing up on how to format an e-book properly (and trying to decide if I just want to pay someone else to do it!). And I got my first ever book cover done, which was SOOO exciting, like early Christmas.

The next month has even more craziness happening, with me finalizing edits on Black Magic & Mojitos, formatting it, placing ads, going on a trip with my son to Seattle, my birthday... and it'll all culminate in the pre-sale party for Mojitos! So stoked! While I'm not revealing the full cover for Mojitos until the pre-sale party, I figured I'd give everyone a little sneak peek of part of the cover. I just couldn't keep it all to myself anymore. It's gorgeous! Hit up Steven Novak if you want one for yourself.

So, without further ado, here's the teaser! If you guys want, maybe I'll dole of some more teasers over the next few weeks. Let me know in the comments!

Initial thoughts? What's shaking things up in your world these days? Big plans for July? TTFN!

Dr. Who Meets CassaStorm!!

This week my long-time blog friend Alex Cavanaugh is having a blog party for the release of his third book, CassaStorm. As part of this event, Alex said he'd answer one unique question for each blogger who participated. So, this was my question:

The main character of your series, space adventurer Byron, meets Dr. Who - tell us about this encounter!

Alex's answer: Dr. Who pulls out his screwdriver and Byron perceives it as an aggressive act. He fires the lasers and takes out the Tardis. While the Doctor is distracted, Byron jumps his Cosbolt to safety. (Don’t hate me Dr. Who fans! But blowing up the Tardis was fun.)

No, not the Tardis!! But we'll forgive you, Alex. Plus Alex will bribe us with swag: comment on his blog this week for a chance to win a Cassa mug, mousepad, magnet, and swag!

And here's all the info about CassaStorm!

 CassaStorm
By Alex J Cavanaugh

From the Amazon Best Selling Series!

A storm gathers across the galaxy…

Commanding the Cassan base on Tgren, Byron thought he’d put the days of battle behind him. As a galaxy-wide war encroaches upon the desert planet, Byron’s ideal life is threatened and he’s caught between the Tgrens and the Cassans.

After enemy ships attack the desert planet, Byron discovers another battle within his own family. The declaration of war between all ten races triggers nightmares in his son, threatening to destroy the boy’s mind.

Meanwhile the ancient alien ship is transmitting a code that might signal the end of all life in the galaxy. And the mysterious probe that almost destroyed Tgren twenty years ago could return. As his world begins to crumble, Byron suspects a connection. The storm is about to break, and Byron is caught in the middle…

“Cavanaugh has created wonderfully moving moments of great poignancy… CassaStorm could have been a dark story full of hardship and angst, but instead it's a cleverly balanced story about hope and triumph.”

Lynda R. Young, author of Make Believe

"Cavanaugh makes world building on the galactic scale look easy. The stakes affect the entire known universe and yet Cavanaugh makes it intensely personal for our hero. The final installment of this series will break your heart and put it back together."

Charity Bradford, science fantasy author of The Magic Wakes
